Glucose Test = Crazy Baby!

on September 2, 2014

I had a check in today with my OB.  I got the red glucose drink.  I took the first two sips and thought, “What the hell is everyone’s problem?  This isn’t so bad.”  However, by sip three I almost lost it.  Fast forward to chugging it and then hoping I didn’t vomit for the rest of the 30 minute car ride to the office.  When I finally got there, the hubs met me in the parking lot and walked in with me.  The charged us for the first labor and delivery payment. Ugh.  I guess it’s credit card points, right?  At least baby Evan will help finance a future trip!  HA!

Anywho…the drew my blood, checked my weight, and my blood pressure.  Turns out my blood pressure was higher than normal which wasn’t too concerning but enough that the tech and my OB mentioned it.  We listened to his little heartbeat at 140ish beats per minute.  Then the OB came in  and measured my belly.  Everything measured on point and then she agreed with everything the hubs has been telling me to do but I haven’t been doing…. “Get some compression hose” (I hate wearing hose), “Just take a Zantac daily so it’s preventative” (I hate popping pills if I don’t need to), and “I promise the residents don’t make any decisions, they just perform actions in my absence” (after our ER visits in December I’m not a fan of Dougie Howser’s hanging around me).  I go back in 3 weeks and then every 2 after that until 36 weeks at which point I’ll go every week.  The increase in appointments makes it seem like we’re so close to the end!  I’m not sure when we’ll see the little guy again but I know there will be one more ultrasound before D Day.

I found out hopefully tomorrow if I passed my 1 hour glucose test.  Fingers crossed.  I will tell you though that all sugar made the little man go stir crazy.  He has been non-stop since I was sitting in the waiting room.  Bah, I really hope I passed and the little guy is ok.  The worry never seems to cease…

I had the red drink too. Not too bad, sort of like Gatorade. KMFX for good glucose levels!

  3. Just thinking about the red stuff makes me gag! XO
